The Alaskan Malamute.
The Alaskan Malamute is descendant of dogs of the Mahlemuts tribe of upper western Alaska traced back 2 000 to 3 000 years ago. They belong to the Spitz group of dogs. They are one of the oldest dog breeds.
The Malamute is a large breed dog. They are often mistaken for Siberian Huskies though there are differences between the two breeds. Malamutes have thicker coats than Siberian Huskies. Unlike their Siberian cousin they are prone to hip dysplasia. Like the Siberian Husky they have almond shaped eyes and are also prone to cataracts.
Their dense coats generally make them unsuited for hot climates. During hot weather needs plenty of water and shade, just like the Siberian Husky.
Apparently instead of barking, they tend to “talk” by vocalizing a “woo woo” sound and may also howl.
If you are planning to get a Husky remember buying a dog it is a serious decision. These dogs prefer colder climates and if you live a warmer clime, you’ll have to ensure that your husky adapts to its environment.
If you are a fan of Huskies, be sure to get The Eight Below. It worth it to buy the DVD. This Disney live action movie is inspired on a true story. Eight huskies (Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Malamutes) get left behind during a snowstorm in Antarctica to fend for themselves.
Malamutes are certainly a beautiful and a fascinating breed of dog.

the eye problem is more prone in those with blue eyes. the dark eyed dogs are generally fine! Something to do with the sun, being too hectic here.
